Dr. Abdullah Al-Abri is the Vice President for Sustainability at Sohar Port and Freezone in the Sultanate of Oman, where he is leading efforts to transform one of the region’s largest industrial ports into a hub for clean energy and low-carbon manufacturing. A mechanical engineer by training, he has held senior roles in upstream energy, strategic foresight, and sustainable development, including with the International Energy Agency and Oman’s national innovation ecosystem. His work spans public policy, energy transition, and economic transformation, with a focus on forging alliances that promote climate justice, technological innovation, and inclusive growth. Dr. Al-Abri collaborates with institutions across the GCC, Europe, and East Asia, and applies a systems-thinking approach shaped by his upbringing in Al-Hamra village and his lifelong commitment to cross-cultural impact.
