Focus Group
Green Urban Development
Rapid urbanisation, climate change, and resource constraints are intensifying challenges in cities across the Global South. Green urban development offers a pathway for building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban spaces. Gulf climate finance can play a strategic role in enabling this transformation, while aligning with Gulf states' own economic diversification goals..
This focus group will identify investment opportunities in areas such as green infrastructure, clean transport, circular economy systems, nature-based solutions, and affordable sustainable housing. Discussions will explore how urban investments can generate sustainable returns and be scaled across regions.
The discussion will seek both region-specific approaches and cross-cutting models that can be replicated or scaled globally. Moreover, it will examine how these urban investments can contribute to Gulf economic diversification, aligning climate finance with long-term goals in profitability, innovation, and market development—particularly in the construction, smart technology, urban services, and renewable energy sectors.
