Climate Project Specialist, Smart Youth Network Initiative

Bashir Mubiru is an engineering and sustainability professional, climate project specialist, and passionate advocate for sustainable development across Sub-Saharan Africa. With experience spanning Uganda, Turkey, Greece, and beyond, he leads the Climate Sustainability Program at the Smart Youth Network Initiative, empowering youth to co-create climate solutions rooted in local knowledge and global insight. Bashir’s work focuses on low-carbon urban infrastructure, biodiversity protection, and engaging marginalized communities—particularly Indigenous and youth voices—in environmental governance. Fluent in English, Turkish, and Luganda, he brings a cross-cultural perspective to every table he joins. Bashir also enjoys teaching on smart cities and contributing to environmental policy networks.
