Crystal Mugimba has several years of experience in development finance and strategy consulting across more than 20 African countries and the UK. She specializes in designing and scaling innovative financing mechanisms, particularly blended finance, to unlock investment in energy access, transport, agriculture, and broader climate sectors. Her work spans the design and operationalization of facilities, mobilization of catalytic capital, and support to last-mile solutions, often working at the intersection of public and private sectors. She has led multi-country initiatives, structured financing vehicles, and helped raise over $1.2BN across climate, energy, and gender-focused funds. Crystal leads Open Capital’s Sustainable Mobility Practice and plays a central role in its Energy Practice, designing and managing complex interventions that advance energy transitions, climate finance, and infrastructure development. She is also part of a global community of practitioners focused on advancing distributed renewable energy through data and ecosystem development. Previously, she worked in institutional finance, managing investment portfolios across emerging markets. She holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from SOAS, University of London, and an MSc in Actuarial Science from Bayes (Cass) Business School, City St George's, University of London.
