Diana Athamneh
Energy Transition Expert
Diana Shafiq Athamneh is an Energy Transition Expert with over 12 years of experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green hydrogen across the MENA region. She has worked with leading international organisations including the World Bank Group, GIZ, and the German Energy Agency (dena), contributing to policy development and key projects that support the region’s transition to a sustainable energy future. In Jordan, she has held leadership roles at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), EDAMA, the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), and Modern Arabia for Solar Energy (MASE), advancing national energy goals. Diana was named Energy Innovator of the Year – Middle East Region by the American Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in 2019, and her work has received numerous awards, including MESIA’s Outstanding MENA Solar Talent Development Program Award (2023) and Solar PV Rooftop Project of the Year (2015 & 2018). She holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Jordan and is currently pursuing an MSc in Oil & Gas with Energy Management at the University of East London. An alumna of the Austrian Leadership Programs (2023) and the Arab Sustainable Energy Youth programme (2014), Diana continues to drive innovative solutions and policy influence across the region’s energy landscape.
