Radhouan Ben-Hamadou
Director of Research and Policy Development, Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future
Dr. Radhouan Ben-Hamadou is an environmental engineer and oceanographer with over 20 years of experience in marine environmental management, resource sustainability and policy-driven research. He authored +125 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters and supervised over 40 graduate (MSc and PhD) students. As the Director of Research and Policy Development at Earthna, he leads initiatives to bridge academic research with actionable policy solutions, driving sustainability in Qatar and beyond. Dr. Ben-Hamadou holds an engineering degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture, an MSc in Biological Oceanography, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Pierre and Marie Curie University (Sorbonne Universities, France). He has held notable leadership roles, including serving as Deputy Director of the UNESCO International Centre for Coastal Ecohydrology, where he spearheaded strategic research and international collaborations for ecosystem resilience and water resources management in the coastal zone. At Qatar University, he served as an Associate Professor for over a decade. Prior to joining Earthna, he was a Senior Sustainability Advisor at TotalEnergies, where he led projects in biodiversity conservation and climate resilience. At Qatar Foundation / Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, Dr. Ben-Hamadou is dedicated to advancing sustainability through knowledge-driven policy advocacy and fostering partnerships that create meaningful environmental and social impact.
