Shakhboz Akhmedov

Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development, Institute for Advanced International Studies

Shakhboz Akhmedov serves as the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the Institute for Advanced International Studies. In this role, he oversees the center’s growth and directs analytical initiatives on sustainability, economic and green growth, climate change, water management, and other pertinent facets of sustainable development in Central Asia and beyond. With over 15 years of experience, he has spearheaded initiatives in multiple regional intergovernmental structures, leading projects on climate and water issues and teams on resource mobilization, projects, and knowledge management. As a seasoned strategist, communicator, and researcher, he advocates for multi-stakeholder partnerships to foster climate actions and sustainable future, integrating research, technology, and innovation. He holds a postgraduate diploma in Organizational Leadership from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, UK, along with an MA degree in Public Policy from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, Germany, where he was a DAAD scholar. He earned his BA degree in International Relations from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Uzbekistan.
