Syed Husain Quadri
Director of Resilience and Climate Action
Syed Husain Quadri leads Resilience and Climate Action Department at a multilateral development bank based in the middle east; guiding strategy, policy, and financing across climate change, disaster‑risk management, fragility and conflict response, and gender‑and‑youth development for the Bank’s 57 member countries. He heads a multidisciplinary team of economists, engineers, and thematic specialists who craft innovative blended‑finance and Islamic‑finance solutions, most recently mobilizing more than US $1 billion for green sukuk, resilience, and relief programs. As Alternate Chair of Banks Operations Technical Committee, Mr Quadri provides final technical clearance for every investment, policy, and guideline submitted to the Board, ensuring strategic alignment with the Bank’s 10‑Year Strategy and the Paris Agreement. He has previously represented on the Board of the Global Partnership for Education, advancing education systems in low‑income contexts and led the Global Muslim Philanthropy Fund for Children. Previously Acting Director for Country Strategy & Co‑operation, he oversaw Foreign Direct Investment promotion, regional‑integration and South‑South‑trade portfolios and managed high‑level relations with the WTO, OIC, UN agencies, and peer multilateral development banks. Earlier, as an independent evaluator, he led more than forty complex public‑ and private‑sector evaluations over twenty countries. A frequent speaker at COP summits, general assemblies and global forums, Mr Quadri holds a BSc from King’s College London and an MSc from Imperial College London, and is completing an executive Diploma in Development Economics at Harvard University, Kennedy School.
